This Fertility & Pregnancy Institute library entry is in response to a question about body odor.
This can be from increased detoxification, from hormonal changes, from digestive changes, including a shifting microbiome in pregnancy, also, this can be largely due to pregnancy constipation and hormonal changes. There’s a deodorant brand called Schmitz, and it’s hard to find a really clean brand of deodorant that works, but that one does work pretty well. There’s also this skin spray called Breo Tech, and it’s benign. It doesn’t help a ton, but it could be a good option for you as you spray yourself first and then put your deodorant on and spray yourself a couple of times throughout the day.
You can use it on other skin kinds types as well. It’s safe and you can use it for children also. So that’s something to consider. And I think once you get your digestion flowing a little bit better, it will help but you probably will be more stinky during pregnancy. Also the odor in your mouth changes. It’s normal when you go in for your cleaning, they might tell you your mouth doesn’t look nearly as healthy as it normally does. That is from hormonal changes, it’s really common during pregnancies and more common to get cavities and all kinds of things.
